Occupational Health and Safety Sector
Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and standards sector is an essential sector in Guyana’s future. It includes a significant presence of public institutions that are regulated by the Regional Democratic Council and Regional Health Authorities throughout the regions respectively. However, it is mainly driven by the Ministry of Health who is constantly seeking to build the capacity of the sector especially given the pandemic which fostered a strong collaboration between the public and private sector.
Safety
Guyana is currently making cultural and organizational shifts to incorporating safety standards into their operations given the influx of foreign organizations that have been coming into the country since 2015. This will increase their capacity to collaborate and compete with foreign entities. They are guided by the National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Policy.
