Food Manufacturing and Processing

Manufacturing & Retail Distribution sector contributes to over 8% of Guyana’s GDP (2021) and with the emergence of the Oil & Gas sector, there will be an increased influx of investments into the country’s economy that many local companies will capitalize on to expand their operations. Additionally, many foreign companies are venturing into Guyana to expand their operations in this sector.

Over the years Guyana’s manufacturing sector focused mainly on the production of commodities such as rice, sugar, bauxite, gold, etc. Thereafter, branched off into consumer items such as food and beverages. And currently, Guyana’s Manufacturing & Retail Distribution sector has expanded to producing construction materials, clothing, toys, etc on a small to medium scale. It continues to grow and diversify.

This sector is regulated by the Guyana Manufacturing and Service Association.
