AmCham Guyana

One of my goals when I first arrived in Guyana was to support the launch of an American Chamber of Commerce in Guyana. However, I honestly was not sure whether there would be enough interest. I want to commend AmCham-Guyana’s leadership and other supporters within Guyana’s private sector, who took this initiative from concept to reality in record time. In fact, I would not be surprised if Guyana has not set the record for the fastest launch of an official AmCham affiliate since this was a mere concept just earlier this year. For Guyana, this is a perfect time to launch an AmCham affiliate. AmCham-Guyana will promote and create US-Guyana trade and business opportunities and partnerships. It will also share in the exchange of best practices for institutions and systems building. Both American and Guyanese companies will benefit, as will the people of Guyana and the United States. Of course, I am not sure whether anyone could make remarks here tonight without mentioning oil. Most have heard my comments many times on the subject, and I will not say much. However, I will say that this discovery is......

US oil giant – ExxonMobil, Marriott, Republic Bank and the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT) are among companies that form part of the American Chamber of Commerce of Guyana (AMCHAM Guyana)–a voluntary association aimed at promoting trade and business between the United States of America (USA) and Guyana. With AMCHAM existing in 28 countries in Latin America and Caribbean, President Zulfikar Ally said it is only fitting to have one established in Guyana at a time when there is increasing interest in the country. “AMCHAM offers businesses and entrepreneurs the opportunity to network, make new contacts and transfer knowledge. It will also provide a platform for business, resource and advocacy support as well as a medium for community involvement and social corporate responsibility,” Ally explained during an exclusive interview with the Guyana Chronicle on Friday. Stating that it is not a one way trade affair, Ally noted that AMCHAM Guyana comprises companies and individuals from both Guyana and the US. “AMCHAM Guyana is open to both foreign and local companies with business activities in Guyana. In fact the chamber’s board is currently comprised of a dynamic mix......

The American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), which is affiliated to the United States Chamber of Commerce,  is preparing to establish an affiliate in Guyana to attract and represent American business interests, American Ambassador to Guyana, Perry Holloway said Wednesday night. He said AMCHAM Guyana is expected to set up shop by August, 2018. “The first ever official American Chamber of Commerce will begin operations in Guyana,” he told a reception at the Marriott Hotel mark American Independence Day. “This is a great initiative that will help our two countries,” he added. The American Chamber is coming to Guyana as an increasing number of US companies establish a foothold here to capitalise on the growing oil industry which is set to produce more oil than Trinidad and Tobago when Liza Phase One begins pumping 120,000 barrels per say from March, 2020. AMCHAM says it is a voluntary association of US enterprises and individuals doing business in a given country as well as firms and business executives of that country who operate in the US. AMCHAM says it can be a “collective patform for advocacy surrounding business needs and policies......
