Representatives of AmCham Guyana attended a welcome reception for what was said to be the largest Congressional Delegation to visit Guyana in recent years. The delegation was led by Committee Chairman Congressman Jason Smith, and included Congresswoman Terri Sewell, Congresswoman Carol Miller, Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach, Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne, Congressman Mike Carey and Congressman Kelly Armstrong.
The House Committee on Ways and Means is the oldest committee of the United States Congress and is the chief tax-writing committee in the House of Representatives.
During their visit, the delegation was able to meet with government officials and opposition leaders to discuss issues related to governance, economic matters, and the importance of bipartisan cooperation. They also met with prominent business leaders from the United States and Guyana to learn firsthand about Guyana’s exponential economic growth and to further examine bilateral and economic cooperation.
