Representatives of AmCham Guyana met with a delegation of policymakers and industry practitioners from the British Virgin Islands (BVI). The 16-member delegation was led by the Hon. Lorna Smith OBE, Deputy Premier and Minister for Financial Services, Labour and Trade of the BVI. Also in attendance was Economic Officer from the US Embassy Guyana, Mr. Richard Leo.
During the session, Mr. Shyam Nokta, Vice President of AmCham Guyana provided an overview of AmCham Guyana, and the organisation’s role in helping to support investments and business development between the US and Guyana.
Among the areas discussed were financing for business development and support to the local business community; Guyana’s LCDS 2030 and advances in the green economy and payments for ecosystem services, as well as opportunities in the blue economy; and the tourism and agriculture sectors.
The BVI team indicated an interest in maintaining close relations and communication with AmCham Guyana for future collaboration and investment opportunities.
