Mr. Roopnarine Ravie Ramcharitar is the General Manager of NEW GPC INC. (House of Limacol), the Caribbean’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturer, since March 2013. He has been in the employ of the company since January 2000 where he has previously served as Finance Controller and has been integral in developing the operations and investments of the parent Group Company, Queens Atlantic Investment Inc. He is also a Director of the Group and Director/Corporate Secretary of several subsidiaries within the Group, where he has primary responsibility for planning and coordinating the Group’s long-term development plan.
Mr. Ramcharitar has utilized his strong leadership skills as a board member of several companies, including the Demerara Harbour Corporation, where he is presently the Chairman and the Private Sector Commission, where he recently joined as a board member. Mr. Ramcharitar previously served on the boards of the Berbice Bridge Company Inc. and the Power Producers and Distributors Inc. as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively.
Mr. Ramcharitar is a versatile chartered accountant with extensive experience in administration, finance, accounting, taxation, pharmaceutical regulatory compliance and supply chain management. Mr. Ramcharitar holds a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting and the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) qualification from Ontario, Canada. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and a longstanding member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Guyana (ICAG).
