Narvan Singh has been the Business Development Manager at Baker Hughes Guyana for the past two-plus year and is mainly responsible for identifying business opportunities for the company. Singh brings more than a dozen years of experience in business development and a decade in programme management experience to Baker Hughes.
He served as United Kingdom’s Country Director at the Department for International Trade (DIT) for four years where he provided support to UK companies doing business in Guyana and Suriname. Earlier he functioned as a Programme Analyst at the European Union Guyana Delegation for ten years where he managed donor-funded Caribbean regional development and integration projects.
Narvan began his business development career in September 1996 as a Business Counsellor/Field Officer at the Institute of Private Enterprise Development (IPED) in Guyana, which provided financial and technical support to small and medium-sized businesses. He rose progressively over a six-year period to a supervisory level at the same company where for two years he managed a small team. He was then delegated to an affiliate institution as the general manager of the Guyana Youth Business Trust (GYBT), brainchild of Prince of Wales Trust, UK for one (1) year, where his primary focus was building entrepreneurship among young people.
Narvan has broad experience in operations, marketing, management and process improvement. Throughout his career Narvan has been actively involved in the Lusignan Sports Club in Guyana guiding young people to play cricket at the highest level. He pursued and earned a double major degree in Geography & Economics from the University of Guyana in 1996.
